Who Am I?
I graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Illustration with a focus in Concept Design for Animation and Games. I spend most of my time involved in creative activities, drawing whenever I have the opportunity. I grew up in Alabama and use the personalities of people I met there to inform my characters. Art was always more than a hobby, it’s a lifestyle! Both of my parents were creatives but ultimately landed in different careers; I’ve set out to break the cycle! My cat really loves to carry around paintbrushes, so maybe he’ll become my studio assistant someday. I enjoy traveling and going to metal concerts, both of which inform a lot of my work.
Why?
Everyone could use a little humor in their lives and that’s what I aim to do with my artwork. Inspired by music and underground comix, I enjoy making low-brow pieces that make me, and hopefully others, laugh. As a character designer, my goal is to make funny, memorable, expressive characters with fun shapes and personalities I’ve witnessed in my own life. Whether it be posters, album covers, or a concept piece, my characters are always informed by story. Everyone has a story to tell, and it just so happens that my characters have goofy ones. I’ve used my creations to bring a smile to my face and I aim to get a smile out of everyone else too, even if it means being a little silly.
